Well-being assessment

                              Wellbeing assessment

The concepts and areas of Hauora:

Physical wellbeing (Taha tinana)
  • Physical wellbeing is about keeping fit and making sure that you’re healthy.
  • For example, you can stay fit and healthy by going on a walk every day and eating healthy foods like fruit and vegetables.

Mental & Emotional wellbeing (Taha hinengaro)
  • Mental and emotional wellbeing is about learning to cope with the normal stresses of life by having a healthy mindset.
  • For example, you can do something that you enjoy to help relieve your stress.

Social wellbeing (Taha whanau)
  • Social wellbeing is about spending time with friends and family often.
  • For example, you can meet up with your friends or family to catch up.

Spiritual wellbeing (Taha wairua)
  • Spiritual wellbeing is about knowing what your belives are and understanding the meaning of life.
  • For example, you can set achievable goals and stick to them.

                                                Whare tapa wha

The whare tapa wha has for equal walls, this symbolizes the four dimensions of Maori well/being, these are physical wellbeing (Taha tinana), mental & emotional wellbeing (Taha hinengaro), social wellbeing (Taha whanau) and spiritual wellbeing (Taha wairua). All these dimensions of well-being are interrelated as if one of them gets affected they can all become affected. For example, if someone was going through a tough time mentally this would effect there mental and emotional well-being, this could cause them to self isolate from others which would have a negative effect on their social well-being. This could cause depression or sadness which can make a person become unmotivated to do anything, this would mean that the spiritual wellbeing and physical wellbeing would be affected because if they are unmotivated they won’t want to complete their goals also causing them to not feel like getting out and doing any physical activity

Effects and impacts on wellbeing

Scenario 3- Mia and Anna spent loads of time with their cousins over the holidays. While they were at their cousin’s house, they found a vape. The girls are curious and try it even though they are really scared that they will get caught.

Physical wellbeing:
Mia and anna could become addicted to vaping as vapes contain nicotine which is an addictive drug, this could have a major impact on their overall health.
This could negatively affect their health as vaping has many physical effects on a person, low doses of nicotine can cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and eye irritation and  High doses of nicotine can cause high blood pressure, seizures, coma, and even death.
This impacts their physical well-being as vaping negatively affects someone’s health. Vaping effects the lungs negatively and if they continue to vape they will find doing any physical activity difficult.

Strategies to support Physical wellbeing:

  1. They could give the vape to a responsible adult, this would mean they no longer have the vape and therefore they won’t be able to use it so they don’t have access to the vape which prevent them vaping and effecting their physical wellbeing with the short term and long term effects of vaping.
  2. They could do their research on vaping to help them understand that vaping has many negative short terms and long term effects on the body.

Mental & Emotional wellbeing (Taha hinengaro)

They could feel guilt and regret trying the vape. This is because they know they did something bad and it may be weighing on there mind. They also know that they did something wrong and are trying to hide what they did. This would impact there mental and emotional wellbeing because they feel guilt and regret which could end up being long term and make them feel unmotivated and sad.

Strategies to support mental & emotional wellbeing
  1.  They can confess what they did to make them stop feeling guilty about what they have done.
  2. Talk to a trusted parent or counselor to get any unwanted emotions off their chest.

Social wellbeing (Taha whanau)
If parents/ caregivers find out there may be punishments including
getting grounded and not being able to hang out with friends they might not b able to hang out with each other or be allowed to go back to the cousin’s house where the found the vape. Another possible effect could be them losing friends as some people might no longer ant to associate themselves with people who vape. This is because their parents won’t want them to be around the wrong influence and some people won’t want to hang out with them again as they don’t want to be negatively influenced by them. This would impact their social wellbeing as they may lose friends this will affect her negatively as it will make them feel lonely and sad.

Strategies to support social wellbeing:

  1. The first strategy to support social wellbeing is to apologize for their mistakes this will help their parents and friends understand that they realize what they did was wrong which will increase their chances of forgiving them and will more likely be able to hang out with them again
  2.  Another strategy to support their social wellbeing is to distance themselves from the people who may be having a negative influence on them, this will make them a better person overall. People want to be friends with others who positively influence them so even though they might be losing some of their old friends they will be able to make new ones.

Spiritual wellbeing (Taha wairua)
If they become addicted to vaping it will endanger their spiritual development this could cause them to stop believing in previous beliefs they may have had it can also cause them to become unmotivated to do things as vaping may take over the majority of their life. This will impact there spiritual well-being as they may not be motivated to set and accomplish goals, also if they follow a religion it could affect their beliefs or impact their opinions on things.

Strategies to support spiritual wellbeing:

  1. They should stop vaping before the start so they won’t have to suffer the long term spiritual effects of vaping.
  2. Try goal setting and find something to focus on to increase their self worth and integrity.

Workshop 3 lighting and colour' enhance the story? English

Key words- atmosphere/mood
How we feel watching the scene.

Lighting and colour

Warm - makes feel comfortable, safe, welcoming
cold - Feels sterile, clean, futuristic, technological.

Bright - feels more lively, energise, vibrant.
Dull - feel, calm, quiet, boring, old.

Natural - sources are sun/moon, feels like real life.
Artificial - man-made sources, feel unnatural.

Palette - the colour used in the shot e.g nature palette will have colours found in nature like browns/greens.

The scene where august cries to his mum about looking different
- They don't even talk to me
- my face is ugly
- Is it always going to matter
-Auggies mum goes into his room to check on him he tells her that others make fun of him and she reassures him.

Theme- Importance of friends & family
Shots/angles
- close-ups used to show Auggies emotions
- over the shoulder when mum speaks to show conversations from Auggie's point of view.

Lighting/colour
- warm dark colours
- This is safe and comfortable space for Auggie to cry
- Dull colours
- Sad, lonely, sympathetic, calm, quiet,
- Natural light is nighttime

Effect on the viewer
- Sympathetic sad, sorry, lonely, depressed, miserable, downhearted, forlorn

Directors purpose
- emphasises the sadness of the moment and the importance of Auggies relationship of his family.

Co-construct a SEXXXYparagraph
In the scene were Auggie cries to his mother about being bullied, Colour and lighting are used to create an atmosphere of sympathy we see this through the use of warm and dull colours in the shot. These make the space feel safe and comfortable for Auggie to express his emotions. this makes us understand how Auggie is feeling miserable, oppressed and depressed because he looks different from his peers. he askes his mum "will it always matter" Which is a feeling most of the audience can relate too. This was done to show the theme of the importance of friendship and family because Auggie learns resilience by talking issues through his mum. Combined with this is the use of close up shots to show the emotions and tears on Auggie's face. The viewer of a moment later in the story where Auggie is upset because of his sister Via doesn't want him to go to her play. Just like this scene, Auggie runs to his room upset and a member of his family comes to reassure him.

Workshop 2 Impact of angles, movements & shots

Shot 1- jack and Julien are fighting because Julien called Auggie a freak so Jack chose to stand up for Auggie

Shots/angles- Dutch tilt something is wrong
Low angle- makes person on top look stronger Jack & makes the person below look weak and venerable.

Viewers reaction- Shocked, concerned, worried, surprised

  • jack had never stood up for Auggie before
  • Jack usually agrees with Julien.
Directors purpose-close up used to make us feel part of the fight, see the characters' emotions and reactions
Uses techniques to build or concern/shock

Other techniques
slow-motion used to show us the details of the fight - to fast otherwise
Music minor, slow tempo, dynamics increase from quiet to help us focus and create atmosphere.

co-construct our Sexxxy paragraph
S- in the fight scene between Julien and Jack, camera angles are used effectively to draw the viewer into the scene.

E- this is demonstrated through the use of low angles, close-ups, and Dutch tilt shots. The low angle shot makes the person on top jack look strong and more aggressive and the person Julian on the bottom look weak and venerable.

X- This makes the audience concerned, shocked and surprised because up to this point Jack always agreed with Julian.

X-The director did this to draw the viewer into the event and highlight Jack's struggle to choose between being right or being popular.

X-combined with this is the use of slow-motion and music which helps us to see details on the characters' faces and recognize their emotional reactions.

Y-This can be composed of close up shots of the start of the film when we first meet Auggie. They are both used to show us a small part of a bigger moment.

Ginger gems

Ginger gems

Hello, everyone welcome back to another blog post. Yesterday we were in the kitchen cooking Ginger gem witch tasted amazing they had a nice golden brown color and a nice crunchie outside a moist soft center.

Our group worked pretty well but sometimes people in our group just stood there doing nothing. Also, we didn't read the recipe correctly and put the wrong amount of butter in the bowl so we had to separate the butter so we had the right amount for each part of the recipe. Our teacher told us to put the oven on fan bake 200c but a person in our group put the oven on fan bake 210c  but other than that we did well. They tasted pretty good but they had small parts of raw areas.

I hope you enjoyed my blog see you next time.

the struggle between right and popular-

Being right means showing integrity
- doing the right this even when no one is watching.
- being popular means agreeing with/ acting in a way others want you to act, even when you don't agree.

Examples 1-

When jack chose to stay with Auggie as his science partner instead of Julien
- Shows theme
- Jack chooses right over popular. Julien wanted to leave Auggie out and jack chose not to.

Teamwork reflection

Welcome to another blog today I will be sharing with you my reflection from the last lessons for health.
Where we had to watch a video clip of people doing activities that involve teamwork. Each group had to choose one of the activities and then do your group activity with the class.

We had to answer these questions for the reflection

What went well/good in the previous lesson?

The lesson was good every contributed, No arguments and everyone had fun and enjoyed themselves.
and no one they water balloons at each other on purpose.

What did not go well in the previous lesson?

The weather was really windy so we had to do all of our activities inside because we tried to do it outside and all of the materials were frying away.

how did you display kindness? goals?

I displayed kindness by listening when the teacher and students were explaining what to do. My goal was to throw the water balloons the furthest.
